Airport sources said the Air Blue flight ED-202 took off at 7:50am from Karachi to Islamabad but crashed due to uneven weather a few minutes before landing after loosing connection with control tower.

Deceased and injured have been shifted to PIMS hospital, said rescue sources.

Eyewitnesses said people noticed airbus flying at very low altitude near Daman-e-Koh this morning and have crashed due to rough weather.

Pak intelligence agencies warn of attack on minority religious places

Lahore, July 21 (ANI): Pakistan intelligence agencies have warned that extremists may target minority worship places in Lahore, Jhang, and all across the Punjab province.

According to a threat alert issued by intelligence agencies, an unknown terror group ‘Munsa’ is planning to target important government installations and buildings belonging to agencies like the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).

"Terrorists are planning to carry out suicide attacks on offices of the ISI, government buildings, army checkposts and other buildings," The Daily Times quoted the alert, as saying.

Following receiving the warning, the Punjab Home Department has directed all concerned authorities to beef up security in and around all sacred places across the province.

Law enforcement agencies have been asked to upgrade the security of all important and sensitive buildings immediately.

All security agencies have been directed to coordinate with each other to share information regarding terrorist activities and make efforts to nab the militants before they succeed in executing their dangerous plans.

Key Pakistani counterterrorism official resigns

ISLAMABAD – The head of a federal group meant to coordinate Pakistan's fight against terrorism resigned Tuesday amid a bureaucratic turf battle waged as the country continues to suffer militant attacks, officials said.

The resignation came several hours after army guards shot and killed three suspected suicide bombers and two other militants as they tried to enter a sprawling military firing range in northwestern Pakistan.

Pakistan has suffered hundreds of attacks by the Taliban and their allies in the past several years that have killed thousands of people. The government has responded by launching several military offensives in the northwest along the Afghan border.

But many analysts have criticized the lack of coordination between the various intelligence andsecurity services battling the militants, prompting the government to establish the National Counterterrorism Authority in early 2009.

The government appointed Tariq Pervez, a former police officer and head of the Federal Investigation Agency, to lead the authority shortly after its formation. But many analysts have expressed frustration with the government's slow pace of standing up the group, despite funding from the European Union.

Pervez was also embroiled in a struggle over where the new group would be placed within the government, said an official. He wanted it to fall under the prime minister's office where it would have more power to get the different agencies to cooperate.

Pervez resigned after the government caved to pressure from the Interior Ministry to give it control over the organization, said the official, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue.

Asif Syed, a senior official at the counterterrorism authority, confirmed that Pervez resigned Tuesday but provided no further details.

The resignation comes as the Pakistani Taliban and their allies continue to attack the state, which they deem unIslamic and too closely allied with the United States.

Four soldiers were wounded in Tuesday's attack at the military firing range in the northwestern city of Mardan, said the army in a statement.

The assailants refused to stop for a check at the entrance to the range, prompting the guards to open fire, police official Akhtar Ali Shah said. Three of the men wore suicide jackets that detonated as they were shot at, wounding the soldiers, said Shah.

The bombers were given cover by four "terrorists," two of whom were killed in a subsequent shooting, said the army. Troops are searching for the two attackers who escaped, it said.
Meanwhile, gunmen in Pakistan's southwestern province of Baluchistan killed nationalist activist Haji Liaquat in Qilat town, said Ghulam Moeenuddin, a security official in the area.

Liaquat was a member of the Baluchistan National Party. The party's secretary-general, Habib Jalib, was killed last week in Quetta, Baluchistan Capital.

The province has long been the scene of an ethnic nationalist movement and insurgency aimed at gaining more autonomy and a greater share of the wealth mined from its natural resources. Targeted killings are common in the region.

7 MORE FALL PREY TO TARGET KILLING IN KARACHI

Atleast 7 persons have been killed in target killing incidents in different areas of Karachi on Tuesday. Qadir, Ghulam Akbar and Ashraf alias Theena were killed in different incidents of target killings in Maleer. They had links with political parties. Unidentified persons set ablaze a vehicle in Azeem Pura. One person was killed by firing in Orangi. HEC REJECTS MORE TIME FOR DEGREE'S VERIFICATION

The Higher Education Commission has denied more time to Sindh University and Karachi University for the verification of degrees. The HEC has written a letter to all the universities asking them to complete the scrutiny in the designated time. Karachi University and Sindh University had asked for two more months to complete the verification of degrees of lawmakers. The HEC had sent back the degrees to the two universities since they had not been scrutinized according to the prescribed procedure. The HEC claimed that the procrastination shown by the two universities are unacceptable. The records of the two universities may be called if the verification is not completed on time.

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR FAKE DEGREES

Some of the smooth talkers are also blaming ex President Musharaf, because he brought minimum university degree qualification clause in the constitution. As a result the ministers have to arrange a fake degree. Laughable rite ! not really – its pure shameful and pathetic. These so called Ministers would go down any level to prove their innocense, even when they are caught red handed cheating the Election Commission, cheating the people who vote for them, cheating their own families. However, The irony is that the same members are allowed to enter election again by the same parties! and they are re-elected again ! who’s fault ! the dumb masses? I believe so – How can someone as disgraced as Jamshed Dasti even hold a small office , let alone become a minister! but it happens. You are not really required to be a respectable and honest person to become a MNA/MPA – its considered a disgrace if you happen to be one. Thought i would create a list of those who are were involved in forging fake degrees.
Here is the list of honourable polticians with Fake Degrees;

Dr. Babar Awan – Law Minister (Read again LAW MINISTER) – Accused of buying fake degree from Mills.
Jamshed Dasti (Parliamentary sports committee head and PPP legislator).
Dr. Amir Liaquat (MQM – Minsiter Religious Affairs)
Nazir Jatt (PML -Q)
Mohammad Ajmal (PML-N)
Azam Chaila (PML-N)
Bashir Ahmed Bhabban (PML-Functional)
Mohammad Khan Jonejo (PML-Functional)
Sheikh Amjad Aziz (PML-N)
Haji Nasir Mehmood (PML-N)
Haji Pervez Khan (PML-N)
Haji Zulfiqar Ali.

Here is another laughable act by one of the stalwarts

A PML-N MNA from Rawalpindi, Haji Pervaiz Khan, was found guilty of hiring a man to appear in the Pakistan Studies examination on his behalf at the Gordon College centre. He was later forced to resign by PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif.

Here is another moment which i am not really proud of, but have no choice but to quote;

Top of the list is the incumbent president of Pakistan, who holds a graduation degree in Economics and Business Administration from Pedinton School, London. This qualification of President Asif Ali Zardari was mentioned on the official website of the Pakistan People’s Party but was removed after the general election of 2008. The official wire service of Pakistan also mentioned his London degree when he was elected as the president. Many tried to locate this UK school, but failed. While no Internet search engine could come up with this institution, an official of the British Council said they were also unaware of the existence of any such school. There is, though, another school having some name resemblance with Pedinton, which is called Pedington School but it is located in Sydney (Australia) and is only from nursery to intermediate.

I have no words, but hope that Election Commission takes notice of such things, at the time the nomination letters are submitted for elections, and once found guilty should be banned for life from holding any public office in Pakistan.

Karachi: ‘Contaminated water’ being supplied to Landhi

Karachi’s water supply crisis was aggravated. A person was killed while 24 others were admitted to hospital with complains of water-borne diseases.Residents of Landhi, however, said that since the water being supplied to them was muddy and also had an odour, they were reluctant to consume it for fear of contracting water-borne diseases. Most of the victims admitted to hospitals were women and children. The Sindh Health Department took notice of the incident demanded an inquiry report of the case from EDO Health and town health officer. Emergency was declared at Korangi Hospital.
